Womens Working Group

Our Purpose
Aston Villa’s commitment to women and girls in football spans two interconnected streams of work — each vital, each distinct, and each designed to ensure that women are safe, valued, visible, and celebrated across the entire Aston Villa community.
This overview page explains how our Women’s initiatives are structured, what each stream does, and how they work together to make Aston Villa a leader in women’s football engagement, culture, and safety.
Our Two Women’s Working Streams
1. Women in Football (Safety, Culture & Inclusion)
This stream focuses on:
- tackling sexism, misogyny, and male violence
- improving safety at matches, pubs, and watch parties
- delivering education and allyship programmes
- working with national organisations (White Ribbon, Women’s Aid, FA)
- driving cultural change in men’s football
- making Villa Park a safe, welcoming, respectful environment for women and girls
It is a cross-sector partnership designed to lead change, influence behaviour, and set new standards across the Premier League and WSL.

How the Two Streams Work Together
Although the two strands have different remits, they share the same goals:
- making Aston Villa a leader in women’s football
- ensuring women and girls feel safe, respected, represented, and connected
- strengthening community, culture, and identity
- supporting both the men’s and women’s teams
- amplifying the voices of women across the club
The Women in Football group focuses on cultural change and safety,
while the Extended Network focuses on fan experience and the growth of the women’s game.
Together, they form Aston Villa’s most comprehensive approach to women’s football engagement to date.
Our Commitment
Across both streams, we will:
- listen to the voices of women and girls
- champion inclusion across men’s and women’s football
- promote respect and allyship
- support the growth of AVWFC
- work collaboratively with the Club and community
- ensure transparency, representation, and accountability
Aston Villa is committed to making our club a place where women’s football thrives — on the pitch, in the stands, and throughout our community.
